RAQUEL RODRIGUEZ IN CONCERT more info Rodriguez is the young and melodic fusion of Etta James, Amy Winehouse and Adele. Now in her final year at USC’s famed Thornton School of Music, Rodriquez will be accompanied by her 9-piece backing band, comprised of many of her classmates from Thornton’s Jazz Studies department. Since forming three years ago, the group has performed at some of the top venues in Southern California, including the Roxy and the House of Blues. THUNDERCAT AND AUSTIN PERALTA IN CONCERT more info BEAUTIFUL, HYPNOTIC & COOL: Twenty-one year old jazz pianist Austin Peralta, son of filmmaker Stacy Peralta, will perform live in concert on Sunday, October 16th at the Festival's Music Cafe on 9th Ave. & San Carlos in downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea, CA. Peralta started playing classical piano at a very early age and discovered jazz at the age of 6. He looks like a typical California skateboarder but he sounds like McCoy Tyner when he is seated at the keyboard. He has recorded several albums with jazz heavyweights for the Japanese market (on Sony), and his resume includes working with saxophonist Zane Musa, Cuban superbassist Carlitos del Puerto and drummer Joey Giachello. One of the highlights every year is the presentation of the Clint Eastwood Filmmakers Award, given to an artist who exemplifies the ideals in filmmaking that Clint has embodied over his many years as an industry leader. Clint chose Carmel as his home for a good reason.Few places on Earth compare to the natural beauty and sophistication of Carmel-by-the-Sea. Founded in 2008, the Carmel Art and Film Festival is a non-profit 501(c)3 committed to supporting the arts in all its forms, with a special emphasis on nurturing the creative spirit in young people. Through year round community outreach, scholarships and grants, special festival programs, and the festival itself, Carmel Art and Film gives artists a platform and a voice to pursue their creative visions and share them with the world.
